About Us
Valley Ball Hockey Association (VBHA) is an organized Non-Proffit ball hockey league that provides the opportunity for boys and girls to play the exciting game of ball hockey. VBHA was incorporated as a not for profit society in 1996 and has been operating for over 30 years in the Fraser Valley. With approximately 1,200 players and 75 teams enjoying one of the fastest growing sports in the Lower Mainland.
Our Goal
Our goal is to create a positive atmosphere for our young boys and girls to play and enjoy the game of ball hockey. To develop self confidence and a sense of good sportsmanship, while improving a player's individual skills. We believe that Fair Play and equal playing time are essential in developing self confidence in young players.
Our Game
Our game is a variation of the sport of ice hockey with similar rules and officiating, however it is played on concrete floors with running shoes and a specially designed ball. Our sport is played in a variety of full-size covered hockey rinks in Langley, Aldergrove & Abbotsford. This sport is a a non-hitting sport designed to be focused on fun and family enjoyment.
Season Play
Our season consists of 16 regular season games with 4 playoff games for all divisions except Tyke. With our introductory division "Tyke" it is approximately 10-12 games. Most games are played within the VBHA boundary, 196 Street east including Hope District and south of the Fraser River to Zero Avenue, with the possible interlock game against a fellow WCMBHA affiliate i.e. Richmond, Tri-Cities & Metro. Medals are given to teams who achieve Gold for 1st and Silver for 2nd. Bronze is only given to participating teams in Tyke, Peanut, Pup & PeeWee. Teams will typically have 1 practice and 2 games per week during our season which runs from early April to the end of June.
