VBHA TYKES
VALLEY BALL
HOCKEY - TYKES DIVISION
Players born 2005 & 2004 are eligible to play
The introduction of our TYKES DIVISION last year was a huge success! As
a result of the positive feedback received by all participants, we are
pleased to announce the permanent addition of this division.
In the last couple of years the Executive, Coaches and parents have
recognized that the original three year Peanut Division was too much for
first time ball hockey players (usually the youngest of the three
years). So we decided to make our PEANUT Division, a two year age group
and added the TYKES Division as a foundation and introduction into the
game of ball hockey.
The intention is for The Tykes Division play once a week (most likely a
weekend) for 10-12 weeks. Each one hour slot consists of drills and
skills for the first half hour. The players will then play a half floor,
4 on4 game. We will make ever effort to keep the teams to 12 players, so
the 4 on 4 game will consist of three lines which means more floor time
for each player!
This will be a great introduction to ball hockey in preparing the kids
for the Peanut division, which plays a full size arena. The youngest of
the Tykes will spend 2 years in this division before moving up to the
Peanut level. Each player will receive an association t-shirt to keep,
individual and team photo, and be presented with a medal at the Wind-Up
Ceremony at the end of the season.
All players must wear the mandatory equipment listed on the website.
This is an intro program for youths. Players will not be moved into the
Peanut division, until completing the second year of this level.
Please check the
Registration page for
rates and registration details. We look forward to introducing your son
or daughter to the FUN sport of Ball Hockey.
